Worldwide 1 to 800 lively born baby's has Down's syndrome!
In many countries outside Western Europe, newborn children with Down’s syndrome are still handed over to orphanages or foster parents. The major reason for this is the limited knowledge of parents and caretakers about the possibilities of development of these children. There is hardly any care or support for parents who want to bring up their children themselves at home. Our mission is to implement a lot of knowledge into those countries.
Downkids International organizes conferences and parent seminars. They are also involved in forming parentgroups and trainingcentres. The Dutch physiotherapists Peter Lauteslager and Bert Bakker, give trainings to professionals. Not only in how to treat the children, but also in how to get a license to train and certify therapists in their own countries. So a lot of children with Down's syndrom will get the opportunity to get the right therapy and live with their families. They have the right to live a respectfull life!
